Students Visualize Ecologies

Students Visualize Ecologies

My name is Claudia Buszta, and I am an Environmental Geography major. I am working this year with Professor Haughwout on the 6th E Street project to illustrate how different organisms relate to each other within their ecological communities. Our focus is on regional ecosystems in New York State, identifying how native species interact with human activity. These summaries are meant to accompany the visualizations of the ecologies within the tunnels.

On November 13th, students in Professor Haughwout’s ARTS 100 class were introduced to the 6th E Street project.  With help from arts student Elise Kennedy (’21), they practiced their spray-painting skills in the classroom. The students created unique designs with the templates available to them, and also created compositions using cut-outs of various animals provided by Elise.

The students will help in visualizing the ecologies for the tunnels as part of their final projects in the class. Working in groups, they will work on representing the organisms and themes of their chosen ecology by developing possible compositions for the tunnels.
