My name is Claudia Buszta, and I am an Environmental Geography major. I am working this year with Professor Haughwout on the 6th E Street project to illustrate how different organisms relate to each other within their ecological communities. Our focus is on regional ecosystems in New York State, identifying how native species interact with human activity. These summaries are meant to accompany the visualizations of the ecologies within the tunnels.

At the beginning of this spring semester, students got right to work installing the ecologies that had been developed over the course of the previous semester. On Saturday, February 9th, Claudia Buszta (’19), Elise Kennedy (’21), and Joanna Rodriguez (’22) worked in the tunnels to add more to the ecologies put up by ARTS 100 students previously.

The students worked together along with Professor Haughwout to develop a composition and color combinations on paper before committing the artwork to the tunnel walls. Focus that day was put on finalizing the positive future water ecology, which features fresh and salt water organisms that are hallmarks of healthy water ecosystems.
