July 30- Moving Day

Pickup

Today is the day! The plants are finally going to take root in the Studio Garden! The weather was on our side for most of the day as it was sunny and warm throughout the morning and afternoon. The day started with loading all the plants into the pickup truck. My finger throbbed the entire time as I had accidentally touched the Nettle which was not a good call. The plants survived the fifteen minute drive and all but one made it completely in tact.

I got busy loading the wheelbarrow full of wood chips to use for the walkway while Margaretha freed the plants from their potted confines. While working we were greeted by a small visiter that blended in with our wood chip paths. I caught the little guy and placed him safely on top of one of the beds so he wouldn’t be stepped on.

By the early afternoon it was mostly running errands to gather some food and supplies for the gardening party that Colgate faculty, and Hamilton Tree Planting Committee was invited to.

It’s nice to no longer be looking at a patch of dirt. We finally have a garden!
